Bob and Brad Foot Massager Review: 5 Reasons to Buy

As someone who’s always on the lookout for ways to take care of my body, I know the importance of paying attention to our feet. After all, they’re the foundation of our body and neglecting them can lead to a whole host of problems.

So, when it comes to foot care, I like to use a trusty foot massager. And let me tell you, the Bob and Brad Foot Massager is a game changer.

Not only does it come with a ton of customizable options, but it also mimics the techniques used by professional therapists.

In this post, I’m going to share with you my personal 5 reasons why I believe the Bob and Brad Foot Massager is worth considering for your self-care routine, and how it’s been benefiting me.

1. Bob and Brad Foot Massager Massage Options

Whether you need a deep-tissue massage to relieve soreness or a gentle massage to help you relax, the Bob and Brad Foot Massager can accommodate.

I found one of the most unique features of the Bob and Brad Foot Massager is its ability to customize the massage to your liking. It features adjustable kneading intensity, compression, heat options, and different modes that target specific areas of the feet.

One common complaint I usually have with a foot massager is that it doesn’t “dig in” enough. With the Bob and Brad, I really felt like it was just the right amount, especially on the highest setting. In fact, I was tempted to dial it back on occasion because the kneading was almost too much.

For you plantar fasciitis sufferers, you’re going to really like the scrapping feature. While the rollers simultaneously knead your foot, another roller is applying firm back and forth pressure along the arch of the foot. That elongating action is exactly what you’re looking for when the muscles and tendons get tight.

2. Increases Circulation

Now for those with swollen feet, the compression feature will come in handy. Along the top and sides of your foot are air bags that envelope your feet, all while rhythmically inflating and deflating with air. On the highest setting, there’s a fair bit of squeezing going on, so be careful.

As you may already be aware, compressing your feet can improve blood flow and increase circulation. That in return can bring oxygen and nutrients to the cells and help to remove waste products.

The Bob and Brad Foot Massager is designed to mimic the techniques used by professional massage therapists. Techniques which help to enhance circulation and promote healing. This can be especially beneficial for people with conditions such as diabetes, which can cause circulation problems in the feet.

3. Relieves Pain and Soreness

Listen, if you’re on your feet all day, the Bob and Brad Foot Massager is going to be a godsend. Which if I had to guess, that’s the primary reason you’re even considering a foot massager.

The Bob and Brad is perfect in that regard. It can help to alleviate pain and soreness in the feet and ankles caused by conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and arthritis.

The massager’s kneading, rolling, and heat functions help to increase circulation, relax tight muscles, and reduce inflammation. This can lead to a reduction in pain and discomfort, making it easier to stand and walk.

4. Relaxation and Stress Relief

Correct me if I’m wrong, but one of the most satisfying times of the day is when I can kick off my shoes and finally relax. Am I right?

The Bob and Brad Massager is not only designed to provide physical benefits but a relaxing and soothing experience too. Whether you’ve had a long day at work or you’re just looking to unwind, the massager’s heat settings can help to soothe tired muscles and promote relaxation.

In total, there are 3 levels of selectable heat available, reaching a peak temperature of 131 degrees. I personally found the heat to be more than adequate and felt really quit good.

5. Durable and Easy to Clean

One legitimate concern you may have about any foot massager is its durability and ease of keeping it clean. The Bob and Brad Foot Massager is built to last, with high-quality materials that can withstand frequent use.

It’s also designed to be easy to clean, with removable foot covers that can be machine-washed. Simply unzip them and detach. This makes it simple to keep the massager hygienic, and free from dirt and dust, ensuring a safe and healthy massage.

Overall Design

From a design perspective, there’s nothing particularly unique about the Bob and Brad foot massager compared to similar models. The pod-like outer body is made of a hard plastic that’s attractive enough and appears to be well made. The exterior dimension measure just under 16″ wide, 15 inches long, and a little more than 9″ tall with an overall weight of 8.22 pounds.

It’s certainly not huge or unwieldy to carry by no means, but I certainly wouldn’t consider it portable either. Meaning, you can’t slide it under the bed or stick it in a drawer. This massager will require a little bit of real estate somewhere. If I had to guess, it will remain in front of the couch and used nightly.

Continuing with the design, the two-foot well openings where your feet slip into the massager are fairly narrow. With about a 6″ circumference, a little bit of tact is needed. I found you have to slightly point your feet downwards to get them to slip inside the massager.

Based on the manual, the Bob and Brad will accommodate up to a size 12 foot. We can confirm this to be accurate. Beyond that, your foot would likely get too cramped inside.

Massage Modes

As stated in their marketing package, the Bob and Brad foot massager offers a “Full Experience Foot Massage with Kneading, Shiatsu, Heat, and Squeeze”

The different massage settings and variations include:

  • A Full Experience for the foot tip, instep, arch, ankle and heel.
  • 3 Levels of Heat for feet: Low Heat, Medium Heat, and High Heat. (113-131 degrees F)
  • 3 Shiatsu Deep Kneading Intensities (Low, Medium, High, or Off)
  • 4 Squeeze Intensities (Low, Medium, High, Max, or Off)

Controls and Remote

foot massager controls

Every option you will need, including the on/off button, is on the face of the foot massager. There’s no need to go searching for buttons around the back like some massagers.

While the buttons are conveniently placed, the inconvenience factor lies trying to select them while your feet are placed inside. Having to reach down and change the settings mid-massage can be a bit tedious.

Thankfully, a remote control is included with all the identical buttons as the unit itself. I found it to work well but I will caution you, it’s small and thin. If you’re prone to losing the TV remote in the couch cushions, this one will be impossible to find. Fair warning.

Power Features

In an age of wireless everything, you might be disappointed to learn that there is no internal battery. Being tied to a wall outlet is a minor inconvenience, but it’s worth noting.

It’s not readily apparent, but the massager does have a built-in 15-minute timer that will automatically shut off. That’s good to know in the event it abruptly shuts off and you’re wondering why. For future models, a selectable timer would be a nice-to-have.

One final note about the operation is that it’s pretty quiet. Not silent by no means, mind you. Creating a maximum 55dB of noise, I found I could carry on a conversation or watch television without adjusting the volume.

Final Thoughts

Here’s the deal, if you’re looking for an effective foot massager, with a ton of options, that’s lightweight and not too noisy, the Bob and Brad Foot Massager is a winner.

From my hands-on time with it, I found it to be very well made. And because it comes from a reputable company, I’m confident they will honor the 1-year warranty that’s included.

This is our 3rd Bob and Brad product review (previously their massage gun and eye massager) and each device has been superb. I feel confident recommending them to anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What if the Bob and Brad Foot Massager Won’t Turn On?

If your Bob and Brad Foot Massager won’t turn on, there are a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the power source: Make sure the massager is properly plugged in and the outlet is functioning. The power cable can come unplugged at either cord connection or the wall.
  2. Check the controls: Make sure the power switch is able to depress. With extended use, the buttons could become worn to the extent that the tactile buttons no longer function.
  3. Check the fuse: If the massager is plugged in but won’t turn on, the problem may be a blown fuse. Check your home’s fuse box to see if a circuit was tripped.
  4. Check for any physical damage: If there’s any physical damage or malfunctioning in the massager, it won’t turn on. Make sure that there’s no damage to the cord or plug, and that all connections are secure.
  5. Check the warranty: If you’ve tried all of the above steps and the massager still won’t turn on, check the warranty. If the massager is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer for further assistance.

Do foot massagers actually work?

Foot massagers can be a great way to relieve pain, soreness, and tension in the feet. They work by applying pressure, kneading, rolling, and/or heat to the feet to stimulate circulation, relax tight muscles, and reduce inflammation.

Some research studies have shown that foot massagers can be effective in reducing pain and discomfort caused by conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and arthritis. For example, a study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine found that using a foot massager for 20 minutes a day for four weeks reduced pain and improved function in people with plantar fasciitis.

Additionally, using a foot massager can also help to improve circulation, which can bring oxygen and nutrients to the cells and help to remove waste products. This can be especially beneficial for people with conditions such as diabetes, which can cause circulation problems in the feet.

However, it’s important to note that a foot massager is not a substitute for medical treatment, and it should not be used in place of seeing a doctor or physical therapist. Foot massagers can be a helpful addition to your self-care routine, but it’s always best to consult with a medical professional if you’re experiencing pain or discomfort in your feet.

Who Should Not Use a Foot Massager?

While foot massagers can be beneficial for many people, there are certain individuals who should avoid using them or should use them with caution.

  • People with diabetes: People with diabetes have a higher risk of developing foot problems such as neuropathy, which can cause loss of sensation in the feet. This can make it difficult to detect injuries or blisters on the feet and increases the risk of infection. If you have diabetes, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before using a foot massager, as you may not be able to feel the sensation of the massage.
  • Pregnant women: It’s generally safe for pregnant women to use foot massagers, but it’s always best to consult with your healthcare provider first. Avoid using a massager on the ankles or lower legs in the first trimester, as it may increase the risk of blood clots.
  • People with varicose veins: People with varicose veins have increased blood pressure in their leg veins, which can lead to pain, discomfort, and swelling. A foot massager can help to improve circulation and reduce swelling, but it’s best to consult with a healthcare professional before using one, as a massager could worsen the symptoms if used incorrectly.
  • People with open wounds or sores on the feet: If you have open wounds or sores on your feet, it’s best to avoid using a foot massager until they have healed.
  • People with certain medical conditions: People with certain medical conditions, such as deep vein thrombosis, should avoid using a foot massager. If you have any concerns about whether a foot massager is safe for you to use, it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional.

Is A Foot Massager Good For Neuropathy?

The Bob and Brad Foot Massager may be beneficial for people with neuropathy, which is a condition characterized by damage to the nerves in the feet. Neuropathy can cause pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the feet, making it difficult to walk or stand for long periods.

A foot massager can help to stimulate circulation, which can bring oxygen and nutrients to the damaged nerves and help to reduce pain and discomfort. The heat function of a massager can also help to soothe tired muscles and promote relaxation. Massaging the feet can also help to reduce swelling and improve mobility, making it easier to stand and walk.

However, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before using a foot massager if you have neuropathy, as certain types of massages may not be suitable for you. For instance, if you have a loss of sensation in your feet, you may not be able to feel the sensation of the massage, which could cause injury. Also, be mindful of the temperature of the massager and avoid using heat on high or prolonged temperature setting, as this could cause burns if you have a decreased sensation.
